チューリング氏が同性愛者であることが発覚した1952年当時、イギリス刑法では同性愛は犯罪であるとされていたため、氏は同性愛犯罪で起訴され化学的去勢として女性ホルモン注射を投与されていた。氏は2年後の1954年に自殺している（本家/.、I PROGRAMMER記事）。
